Borealia is a medium sized nation that is present in GS16. Borealia territorial claims include sixteen systems in quadrant “EQ-1” as well as several refit and repair depots located across the Sun Singed trade route.
A true believer in freedom and democracy, Borealians hold a higher standard towards themselves as being regarded as a strong, proud, and willing nation, who helps others in times of need.
Government
Government Type
Borealias government is a Parliamentary Democracy. Where the head of government derives their democratic legitimacy from their ability to command the support of laws and legislature
Borealias government is broken down into three levels, which include the federal level, the planetary level, and the municipal level.
At the federal level, legislation is created to govern all of Borealia. At the planetary level, legislation is created to govern an individual planet, and municipal is to govern towns or cities. This structure allows for a distribution of powers and responsibilities at different levels, which can be effective in a large and diverse setting.
Elections
Elections in Borealia are held every five years, which is the length of a standard term in office. A Prime Minister can serve as many terms as they want if they have the populations support to do so. When it comes to the election season, there are normally four parties a Borealian may vote for in a federal election:
- New Liberal Party (Left)
- National Conservative Party (Centralist)
- Borealian Freedom Party (Far right)
- Environmentalist Party (Far left)
After a federal election, the political party with the most seats typically forms the government, with the leader of the winning party becoming the new Prime Minister, who then selects Cabinet ministers to lead various government departments and policy areas. Together, the Prime Minister and the Cabinet make decisions about government policy and introduce potential new laws.
Leadership
The current Liberal government is led by Prime Minister Danika Ruben who is the fourth year of her first term in office. She leads the New Liberal Party.
Diplomacy
Borealia is always open to diplomacy with other nations.
Borealia is apart of the embacy, and the Union of Judgement.
Economics
Borealia is a highly developed market type economy. Trade with other nations is always eagerly sought after. Trade between Borealia and other nations often consists of raw bulk materials such as rare metals, agriculture goods, specialized manufactured parts for different systems, and medicinal products.
Important Industries
Ship building and its related manufacturing in Borealia is one of the most profitable industries. With a nation spread out across different systems, ships and replacement parts are always needed.
Borealia has special repair and refit stations located around the Sun Singed trade route to services ships defending the trade route from piracy.
Society and Culture
Culture
Most worlds are populated by distinct ethnic groups and nationalities entirely uprooted from Borealia, while others were more complicated arrangements owing to economic motivations or creed, both factors creating profound deep cultural expressions throughout the colonies that have evolved independently from Borealia.
Social Structure
Religion
There are many practiced religions in Borealia, while not every citizen believes in some form of religion, it is not frowned upon to believe or not to be. Every person in Borealia has the right to practice their religion.
There is no connection to state and religion, with the federal government committing to religious pluralism.

Propulsion
Ships use fusion rockets for propulsion, generating both power and direct thrust. The hot plasma exhaust is dangerous but allows for high mobility, particularly with inertial compensators that minimize the effects of rapid acceleration and manoeuvring within the ship. Many ships use a combination of high-thrust and high-efficiency engines to balance reaction mass: consumption and acceleration at different stages of a journey. For delicate and slow movements, ships use simpler chemical thrusters.
Aurora Drives allow a ship to travel Faster-than-light by refolding local space-time, generating a quantum singularity and "jumping into the Aurora at a precisely controlled speed and energy level. While pre-calculating a destination solution is possible, even the best-plotted routes suffer variation in arrival time and emergence point, which grows exponentially on long trips. Borealian navy fleets assemble at staging areas close to the target before making a final Aurora trip, to minimize the chance of ships scattered.
Electronics & Computing
Expert systems and volitional software constructs have utterly transformed Borealian civilization, though much of its effects are not readily visible to a casual observer. Behind the scenes, extremely sophisticated automation systems run most logistical and support functions under their oversight, from individual apartment controls to entire world-spanning information grids, while al aid individual humans as digital assistants, design leads, and peerless researchers. Even the most basic “dumb” al can mimic human behavior, while “smart” constructs are not only indistinguishable from a human intellect, but they can also vastly exceed them in many aspects.
Communications
Interstellar communications within Borealia are complicated. While they do posses the ability to communicate to other planets and stations within a system, couriers are needed for quick and reliable communications.
Military
Borealian Armed Forces
The Borealian Armed Forces (BAF) is the primary fighting force of Borealia, it was established in 2162 to ensure the security of Borealia’s territories and interests. The BAF is structured around three different service branches that are defined by Borealian law which include:
- Borealian Army
- Royal Borealian Air Force (RBAF)
- Royal Borealian Navy (RBN)
Changed and amended over the centuries, the BAF’s mission statement is:
• Ensure the safety and security of Borealias territories, assets, and areas vital to interest.

Field Fighting Order
Field Fighting Order is the name for the protection pieces every soldier is given for combat. Variants of the FFO are available depending on operational environment, which includes winter, jungle, arid, and vacuum conditions.
For CBRN Threats, PPE is available as well. Other work uniforms are available as well depending on the operational environment.
The standard FFO includes:
- M52B Body Amour
- BH458 Helmet
- VG27 Combat Boots
- B49 Gas Mask and Carrier

Armoured Vehicles
B120 Coyote Main Battle Tank
The B120 Coyote is the main battle tank used in the Borealian army. The Coyotes primary role is to fight other enemy armoured vehicles and create breakthroughs in an enemy line through means of superior fire power.
Primary Armament
- 130mm smoothbore gun
Secondary Armament
- 12.7mm Coaxial machine gun
- B8 roof mount
B132 Cougar infantry fighting vehicle vehicle
The B132 cougar is the main infantry fighting vehicle used in the Borealian army. The Cougars role is to deploy infantry squads and stay in combat to support them. The Cougar can deal with enemy armoured vehicles.
Primary Armament
- 30mm Autocannon
Secondary Armament
- 12.7mm Coaxial machine gun
- B7 Roof mount
B133 Bobcat infantry support
Based on the same chasis as the Cougar, the Bobcat, is used to support infantry operations. The Bobcat can be used in many roles from medical evacuations, field command posts, vehicle recovery and much more.
Primary Armament
B140 Bison armoured personel carrier
The B140 Bison is a fast armoured troop carrier, whose role is to deliver troops as quickly as it can to the battlefield before retreating. Its lack of a main armament means it cannot go toe to toe with enemy armour or large swathes of enemy infantry.
Primary Armament
B150 Lynx light armoured vehicle
The B150 Lynx is a small utility vehicle, or an armoured car used for transportation. Can also be used in smaller support roles like the Bobcat but lacking the large size of the Bobcat.
B144 Puma tactical reconnaissance vehicle
The B144 Puma is a reconnaissance vehicle based of the chassis of the lynx; however, it has a lower profile, and has a more cargo space for reconnaissance tools.
