G-S16 - Izerani Fleet
Such a bold invitation to the Izerani was surely a sign of good fortune, given that none of the powers here would likely be unaware of a fleet of any significant size simply arriving at the outskirts of the galaxy. It meant that perhaps someone would be able to assist them in a time of dire such as this. Ships, resources, men, all of this was in exceptionally low supply, and as such, only one ship would be allocated to this mission - an L88-Class Cruiser. Of course, the Military Block wanted to send ten of the 25 warships at the Izerani's control to this meeting as a show of force, but the other two blocks, the Scientific and Economic Blocks, vehemently opposed this for all logical reasoning.
Not much had been known about the AD within the FDI, given the short time they had been present in this galaxy. However, their track record hadn't shown them to be common attackers of those they invited. In their transmission to the central hub and lifeline of the FDI, station 'Forlorn Hope,' they had also mentioned another entity arriving for the talks. No other details were mentioned.
"T-minus 6 minutes until we reach the mapped out meeting point."
a computerized voice would say as the Izerani cruiser approaches. "Completing all checks is advisable."
"Talk about a tense situation." the man, one Captain Halthuss, would muse to himself, pacing back and forth inside the bridge of the cruiser. It was a dim and dark place, the only lighting being the fluorescent glow of screens, filtering data into the central data unit of the ship, which spat out numbers and conditions of various parts of the ship.
"Engines...operating as normal. XH-76 turret A...operating as normal. XH-76 tur..."
it would say, running final checks on all needed parts of the ship. Engines, shielding, weapons, the absolute essentials. One could only hope this wasn't an ambush, but if it were, the Izerani would show their strength.
Halthuss was one of many inexperienced and young commanders promoted in the vacuum of their expulsion to G-S16, however, he was not a stupid man -- his past assignments, low in glory and prestige as they were, had proved to be operating smoothly when he was in charge. Whatever those assignments were, however, hardly mattered, as the command of an entire cruiser was something that consistently weighed heavily on his mind. Only a few of these ships even existed anymore, and one loss would be a massive loss in capability to the Izerani fleet.
"T-minus 3 minutes until we reach the mapped out meeting point."
the computer would say again.
"I suppose it won't be long until we meet with them." Halthuss would say, prepared as he could be.
